Interface IP
Overview
Ittiam Systems' Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio for Interface IPs targets silicon and system designers who need to incorporate host interface functionality in their systems as a chipset, System on a Chip (SoC) design or platform.
A host interface is used to connect hardware devices with a host system like a PC or a PDA. Host interfaces are used in modern PCs to provide throughputs of up to 128 Gbps. Examples of hardware devices include SD cards, WLAN interface cards, cameras, multimedia players among others.
There are many host interface standards, a few of which are listed below:
Cardbus is a 32-bit, 33MHz interface with Bus mastering functionality, and has a theoretical throughput of more than 1 Gbps.
SDIO interface is compatible with the SD memory interface. SDIO interface provides high-speed data I / O (theoretical throughput of 200 Mbps) with low power consumption for mobile electronic devices.
PCI Express can be configured to work on 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x links with aggregate bandwidth ranging from 4 Gbps to 128 Gbps. PCIe has replaced PCI, PCI-X and AGP in the current computing systems. PCIe provides data integrity checks, quality of service for isochronous applications even in heavily loaded platforms, advanced power management for low power applications, robust error detection and handling features.
Ittiam IP Offering
Ittiam's Interface IP, licensed to multiple customers across the world, includes optimized high performance SDIO, Cardbus and PCIe Device IPs. Each IP provides a different range of throughputs and based on the device requirement, the particular IP can be chosen.
Apart from a rich set of deliverables and support for integration of the IP in customer systems, Ittiam's Interface IP program offers multiple options for interfacing WLAN, PLC and similar communication technologies to a host processor / platform / system.
Fully verified on Ittiam's Validation Platform, standard IP delivery includes source, comprehensive documentation and test benches, offering a reduced design cycle time.
