Power Line Communication IP

Overview

Ittiam Systems' Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio for Power Line Communication systems targets silicon and system designers who need to incorporate Power Line Communication technology in their systems as a chipset, System on a Chip (SoC) design or platform.

Power Line Communication (PLC) is an emerging technology that has evolved from supporting very low data rates a few decades back to data rates of hundreds of megabits today.

One of the major applications of PLC technology is in home networking for multimedia distribution throughout the home. Other applications include smart grid, smart metering and last mile connectivity to WAN.

There are two principal standards driving this technology - IEEE 1901 and ITU-T G.hn.

Ittiam IP Offering

Ittiam's Power Line Communications IP includes an optimized, high performance implementation of Power Line Communication PHY and MAC Layers according to standards like Homeplug AV, IEEE P 1901 and ITU-T G.hn. Apart from a rich set of deliverables and support for integration of the IP in customer systems, Ittiam's Power Line Communication IP program offers a roadmap for emerging and future Power Line Technology standards.

Fully verified on Ittiam's PLC Validation Platform, standard IP delivery includes source, comprehensive documentation, system models and test benches, thus offering a reduced design cycle time.

Ittiam PLC IP supports Station functionality as well as the required CCo features.
