Overview

Ittiam Systems' Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio for Wireless LAN systems targets silicon and system designers who need to incorporate Wireless LAN technology into their systems as a chipset, System on a Chip (SoC) design or platform.

Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) is in widespread use today. It has evolved over the years from having a data rate of 11 Mbps in 802.11b, 54 Mbps in the widely deployed 802.11g, and up to 600 Mbps delivered by the latest 802.11n technology. Wireless LAN interfaces have become ubiquitous both in office and home environments, and also from enterprise servers to mobile/ smart/VoIP phones.

Wireless LAN is based on the IEEE 802.11 family of standards that define several aspects of the system including the Physical layer, the MAC layer, security / privacy, quality of service and fast hand off between APs.  IEEE task groups are also working on other aspects like mesh networking, vehicular mobility and audio / video streaming over Wireless LAN.

Ittiam's Wireless LAN IP, licensed to multiple customers across North America, Europe, Israel, Asia-Pacific and Japan, includes optimized, high performance IEEE 802.11 Physical and IEEE 802.11 MAC layers.The  Ittiam Wireless LAN IP has a comprehensive set of features which have been rigorously verified, silicon tested and are easy to integrate.  Apart from a rich set of deliverables, Ittiam Systems also offer world-class customer support for integration of the IP in customer systems.

Ittiam Wireless LAN IP is architected for ease of SoC integration, extensibility and flexibility to support the evolving 802.11 family of standards and offers a roadmap for future extensions to the IEEE 802.11 specifications.

The Ittiam Wireless LAN IP supports both STA and AP modes.  The AHB-based architecture allows easy integration with a Network Processor for AP solutions.  For use with the STA mode, various host interfaces like SDIO, CardBus and PCIe are available from Ittiam Systems. Typical customer applications for this IP include enterprise APs, platform demonstrators, mobile gaming and sensor networking.

This IP is fully verified on Ittiam's Wireless LAN Validation Platform. The standard IP delivery package includes the source code, comprehensive documentation, test plans, test vectors and reports (both simulation and real-time), synthesis scripts for the RTL, build scripts for the software, system models and test benches, offering a reduced design cycle time.

Ittiam Systems also has partnerships with RF and Analog IP vendors.  These parternships, coupled with its digital IP offering and in-depth expertise ranging from algorithms, system architecture, RTL / software design to system integration & testing, provides customers a single-stop window for acquiring Wireless LAN solutions.
