Ittiam Silicon IP Offering

System on chips (SOC) have become complex with time and this has forced the designs to be modular. The typical SOC device today tends to integrate almost all the functions required in a complete system. Availability of highly configurable, fully verified Silicon IPs for Industry standards, which are specialized fixed functions, helps SOC designers to provide high quality SOC solutions meeting their time-to-market requirements.

As part of the Ittiam Silicon IP Strategy, Ittiam has been working on WLAN IP since its inception. Ittiam offers Wi-Fi components as Silicon IP for SOC customers. Ittiam also provides Power Line Communication IPs (IEEE P1901, G.hn), interface IPs (e.g. PCIe, SDIO, Cardbus) and associated drivers as part of its Silicon IP offering.

These IPs are also available for system developers on FPGA platforms. Such customers can use these IPs on FPGA platforms and easily do their own value addition (e.g. custom modulations, different MAC protocols etc) for commercial or research purposes.

Ittiam also provides IP validation/reference platforms which can be directly used by the customer to jump-start the project.

Ittiam’s Silicon IPs has been licensed to multiple SOC and system customers around the world and have been silicon proven. Ittiam can work with the customer from the conceptual stage and help the customer to do "what-if" analysis based on the SOC requirements. Ittiam can also provide consultancy to SOC companies on Silicon IP specific nuances.

Services: Typically Silicon IP needs to be customized as per individual SOC requirements. Each SOC architecture has unique characteristics like different processor cores, associated memory sub-systems, peripherals and bus architectures. Additionally, time-critical applications may mandate use of Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). Memory sizes and peripheral mixes may vary depending on end application requirements and device cost.

Ittiam provides services to customize the Silicon IP to suit customer requirements. Ittiam also undertakes modeling, design, implementation and validation of customer specified modules/functions.

Wi-Fi based SOC: Ittiam along with its partners [which includes ASIC backend partners] can define the entire Wi-Fi based SOC based on customer requirements and also facilitate the delivery of the chip.

OFDM expertise: As part of the WLAN IP development, Ittiam has grown its competency multi-fold in wireless communication space with specific focus on OFDM. Ittiam has provided custom solutions to customers in the OFDM space.
