Loudness Metering and Leveling

The sudden and annoying increase in volume when advertisements are aired on radio or TV will soon be a thing of the past.

Ittiam’s CALM (Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act) and EBU R 128 compliant Loudness Metering and Leveling (LML) solution limits loudness levels of advertisements/programs in broadcast transmissions.

Ittiam’s LML solution comprises a highly optimized software library for loudness measurement, monitoring, logging and level control. With leveling being an optional feature, the library can also be used as a complete monitoring solution. Also, with true-peak measurement and non-destructive brick-wall limiting, the solution limits the output to user specification – which means the sound cannot get louder if you’ve set an upper limit for it. Armed with the capability to level the audio real-time, the solution can be easily integrated to a 3rd party software stack for quick deployment and time-to-market for a CALM ready solution.
