Ittiam Systems, the leading provider of next generation video technology and solutions to the Broadcast Media Industry, adds Dolby Laboratories Inc., to its list of H.265/HEVC customers. Dolby, the world leader in media technologies, licensed Ittiam’s i265 H.265/HEVC professional decoder on Intel x86 platforms and is working to integrate it into the next version of the Dolby DP580 Reference Decoder for broadcasters and manufacturers.

Ittiam’s high performance professional H.265 decoder is a multi-core software decoder that supports all the critical toolsets and profiles for broadcast applications. Extensive optimizations for x86 CPUs, support for OpenCL acceleration for integrated GPUs, optimized memory footprint, optimizations for high bit rate operation and comprehensive support for in stream data extraction (SEI, VUI and other parameters) make Ittiam’s H.265 Professional Decoder a great choice for applications handling high density HD and 4K/UHD video.

“Dolby solutions empower the professional content community to create engaging content and entertainment experiences”, said Shantanu Jha, SVP, Broadcast Media Solutions at Ittiam. “We are glad that our HEVC products are enabling Dolby to meet the challenging technical and time to market demands of its customers with its Professional Reference Decoder Product.”

Ittiam has licensed H.265/HEVC technologies since 2012 to the leading players in the broadcast and consumer industry. Additionally, being part of the Android distribution from Google makes Ittiam’s HEVC decoder one of the most widely deployed H.265 decoders today. The latest versions of Ittiam’s i265 suite of H.265/HEVC codecs will be demonstrated at the upcoming NAB 2016 in its booth SU14213.
