Ittiam Systems, a leader in providing digital media processing and communication Intellectual Property (IP) solutions, today announced that it has achieved the most well known ‘Wi-Fi Certification’ from the Wi-Fi Alliance^® for IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, WPA™, WPA2™ and EAP for its WLAN IP.

Wi-Fi chipset sales reached 200 million units in 2006, according to analyst firm In-Stat. These numbers are further expected grow significantly as more and more consumer appliances start integrating WLAN as part of their system. Since CE devices are driven heavily by cost and form factor, WLAN IP integrated SOC solutions for wireless gadgets will emerge as winners in this segment.

Ittiam Systems’ 802.11a/b/g/i/e MAC and 802.11a/b/g physical layer silicon IP is delivered as a synthesizable Verilog RTL along with extensive documentation, verification test benches and floating and fixed point simulation models. Ittiam provides a hardware verification platform capable of validating real-time operation and performance at 54 Mbps with the physical layer on a FPGA (field programmable gate array). It also demonstrates the interoperability of the wireless LAN IP over the air using multiple RF chipsets.
