Powerful new technology on display at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain, February 26, 2014 –(PR.com)– Expway, the world’s leading software vendor focused on mobile broadcast and provider of eMBMS device middleware, and Ittiam Systems, the world’s leading provider of advanced mobile video players and codecs technologies, have partnered together to provide a fully integrated solution playing HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) video stream over the broadcast network with full DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) support. The first public demonstration of this advanced, multicast video technology will take place during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, starting on February 24, 2014.

Expway’s eMBMS Device Middleware controls the eMBMS LTE modem and receives and decodes the eMBMS streams, which when combined with Ittiam Systems’ HEVC video playing technology provides an efficient and integrated solution. This solution leverages Expway’s extensive mobile broadcast expertise with Ittiam’s deep knowledge of hardware- and software-optimized video codecs to provide a complete video software offering for eMBMS devices.

Ittiam Systems’ vividPlay, a media-player and premium video streaming client, incorporates support for HEVC, PiP, multi-DRM and other advanced features. High quality streaming media playback is achieved using sophisticated adaption logic algorithms for network, device and usage mode based awareness. Rigorous validation is done to ensure seamless video experience across platforms such as Android and iOS.

“By 2017, video will account for more than 70 percent of the data accessed through mobile devices, an unprecedented trend that can be a hugely profitable opportunity for carriers,” said Claude Seyrat, Chief Marketing Officer of Expway. “By combining the technologies of Expway and Ittiam, the eMBMS integrated solution will help carriers to provide an unparalleled quality of experience for video with far less stress in their networks.”

The LTE Broadcast HEVC video streaming demonstration will take place at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, at both the Expway Meeting room in Hall 5, Hall 5 – 5L36MR, and the Ittiam booth in Hall 8.1, Stand 8.1K24.
