Ittiam’s i265 HEVC encoder paired with Artesyn’s MaxCore Platform offers the highest encoding density per RU in the industry

Amsterdam, NETHERLANDSIttiam Systems, a leading provider of advanced video and visual analytics solutions, is demonstrating the latest update to its i265 HEVC encoder with 4K HDR10 support at IBC 2017. It is making a joint demonstration with Artesyn, a global leader in high performance computing solutions, in Artesyn’s booth – Hall 5.C21. The cost-effective, high-density Ittiam-Artesyn solution will enable streaming and broadcast networks to drive the mass availability of HDR and UHD content, thus redefining consumers’ viewing experience.

The combined power of Ittiam’s i265 encoder and Artesyn’s MaxCore™ platform, featuring the latest Intel® Xeon® E3v5 processor based SharpStreamer™ cards, offers outstanding channel density for 4K HDR HEVC encoding. In addition to high performance 4K encoding on a single Intel Xeon E3, the solution also includes the distributed encoding variant of i265 that achieves 4Kp60 encoding at significantly higher quality in real time or faster than real time.

“By working with Ittiam, we have joined forces with a company that sets the standard for innovation in software video encoding solutions for HEVC,” said Dan Leih, product manager at Embedded Technologies. “Our MaxCore platform offers the highest density of Intel® and third-party GPUs in the industry. Combine it with the Ittiam Intel® Iris™ Pro GPU-accelerated HEVC software encoder, and what you achieve is the ability to implement cost-effective architectures for transcoding, storage, and delivery of UHD HDR video content.”

“As the only provider of distributed, hybrid HEVC encoding technology, we are always looking for the ideal high performance platform partner. Artesyn’s MaxCore platform packs up to 30 Intel Xeon E3 processors into a single 3RU server to offer unmatched performance for our encoding requirements,” said Shantanu Jha, SVP, Media Server Technologies at Ittiam. “As the adoption of HEVC across the industry picks speed, we continue to see active interest in the technology from our customers. This solution enables our customers to leverage the next generation format and deliver outstanding user experiences with 4K and HDR.”
