Ittiam Joins the Alliance for Open Media

Santa Clara, CAIttiam Systems, a leading provider of media solutions to the Consumer, Mobile and Online Video Industry, today announced that it has joined the Alliance for Open Media. The Alliance for Open Media is a non-profit organization working to define and develop media technologies that address the need for an open standard for video compression and delivery over the web.

As a member of the Alliance, Ittiam will collaborate with industry leaders in pursuit of an open and royalty-free AOMedia Video codec, AV1. Ittiam has a long and proven record of advanced video compression algorithms over multiple generations of standards. With its video software solutions successfully applied to numerous customer products for both media creation and consumption, Ittiam is poised to bring this rich expertise to the Alliance for Open Media. The Alliance has made its AV1 codec source code publicly available as an open source project, and the group welcomes contributions from the broader developer community.
